Independent Credentials, Industry Memberships and Why They Matter

Anyone can call themselves a security screen installer. Anyone can put up a website, buy a vehicle wrap, and start quoting jobs. The independent credentials, industry memberships, and licensing behind a business are what separate a regulated, accountable operator from one that is not.

This page lists the credentials Securelux holds, what each one means, and what to ask any installer you are considering.

QBCC Licensed (Lic No. 1187294)

Securelux holds a current Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) licence. The QBCC is the Queensland government regulator for the building and construction industry. Holding a QBCC licence means Securelux is authorised to perform building work in Queensland up to the licence’s scope, has met the QBCC’s financial, technical, and conduct requirements, is bound by the Home Warranty Insurance Scheme where applicable, and is subject to the QBCC’s dispute resolution process.

Why this matters: in Queensland, certain building work performed by an unlicensed contractor is unlawful. Beyond legality, an unlicensed installer is not subject to the QBCC’s consumer protections – you have no formal recourse if the work is defective. Always confirm the QBCC licence number of any installer before signing a contract. Securelux’s licence (1187294) is publicly searchable on the QBCC website.

Crimsafe Authorised Licensee

Securelux is an authorised Crimsafe licensee. Crimsafe does not sell its products through general retail channels – the manufacturing process, the patented Screw-Clamp system, and the warranty are all tied to the licensee network. Becoming a Crimsafe licensee requires investment in factory equipment to manufacture Crimsafe products to specification, training in the Crimsafe manufacturing and installation methodology, ongoing audit and quality control by Crimsafe, and meeting Crimsafe’s standards for customer service and warranty handling.

Why this matters: licensed Crimsafe products carry the full Crimsafe manufacturer warranty. Non-licensed copies, knock-offs, or generic stainless steel mesh products marketed as “similar to Crimsafe” do not carry the Crimsafe warranty, do not undergo Crimsafe’s independent testing, and are not made to the same specification. If a quote you have received is for “stainless steel mesh similar to Crimsafe,” it is not Crimsafe.

National Security Screen Association (NSSA) Member

Securelux is a member of the National Security Screen Association – the peak industry body for security screen manufacturers and installers in Australia. NSSA membership means committing to industry codes of practice, participating in standards development for security screen products in Australia, ongoing professional development for members and staff, and supporting consumer education and industry self-regulation.

Why this matters: NSSA membership is voluntary, but it signals that an installer is engaged with the industry beyond just selling product. Members agree to operate to standards higher than the legal minimum, and the association provides a clear escalation path if a member fails to do so. Not every installer is a member – it is worth asking.

Verified Customer Reviews

Beyond formal credentials, the most direct independent endorsement available to a service business is the experience of past customers. Securelux has earned a 4.9-star Google rating from more than 200 verified reviews across South East Queensland. The reviews are public, dated, and include both the experiences of customers across different product types and consultation styles.

Customer reviews are not a credential in the regulatory sense, but they are an independent signal of consistency. Two hundred customers, an average of 4.9 stars, over years of operation, is a difficult result to manufacture or fake.

Securelux Team

Family-Owned, Queensland-Based, 40+ Years

Securelux has been operating in Queensland for over 40 years as a family-owned business. The longevity matters because security screen installations are warrantied for up to 10 years (or 12 for Crimsafe Ultimate), and warranty service is only as good as the company that stands behind it. An installer who closes within five years of selling you the product cannot honour their workmanship warranty for the next five. Securelux has been here long enough to support every screen we have ever installed.

What to Ask Any Installer Before You Sign

If you are evaluating a security screen installer – Securelux or anyone else – these questions identify the credentials and accountability behind the quote:

  • 1
What is your QBCC licence number, and is it current?
  • 2
Are you an authorised licensee for the brand of screens you are installing? Can you show me the licence?
  • 3
Are you a member of the NSSA or any other industry body?
  • 4
Do you have public, verifiable customer reviews? How many, and on which platforms?
  • 5
How long have you been operating, and under what business names?
  • 6
Are your installers employed directly, or do you subcontract?
  • 7
What workmanship warranty do you provide, and what does it cover?
  • 8
What happens to my warranty if your business closes within the warranty period?

If an installer cannot answer these questions clearly and on the spot, that itself is information.

Credentials do not guarantee a perfect installation, but their absence guarantees a lack of accountability. Securelux holds every credential available to a Queensland security screen installer because we believe homeowners are entitled to know exactly who they are dealing with.

Verify Securelux’s QBCC licence at qbcc.qld.gov.au or call 1300 11 51 51 to discuss any of these credentials in detail.
