Features and product

Crimsafe is a stainless steel security screen system built around two things: a Tensile-Tuff mesh made from 0.9mm 304-grade structural stainless steel, up to 26.5% thicker than most other mesh products on the market, and a Screw-Clamp fastening system that mechanically locks the mesh into the frame. Securelux is a Crimsafe Authorised Licensee and installs the full range, Crimsafe First, Regular and Ultimate, across Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Ipswich and Moreton Bay.

No. The stainless steel mesh resists corrosion, and for coastal homes Securelux applies a Saltwater Series gel to every clamp screw as extra protection against harsh, salty environments.

Yes. The fine Tensile-Tuff mesh and slim Screw-Clamp frame keep the view and airflow open, so there’s no need for bars or grilles. Customers can look out onto the backyard without the obstruction of a diamond grille or heavier security bars.

Crimsafe frames come in 13 standard powder-coated colours plus a range of woodgrain finishes. If a home needs a specific match, Securelux consultants can also match another Dulux or Interpon colour on request, so the frame blends with existing doors and windows.

Crimsafe has passed the knife shear test, which involves a heavy-duty trimming knife being forcefully pulled along the mesh multiple times. To pass, the mesh must resist a continuous cut of more than 150mm, which Crimsafe achieves.

Pricing

As a guide, Crimsafe windows start from around $350 and doors from around $1,000. The exact price depends on which Crimsafe product is chosen, the size of the opening, the installation requirements, and whether the frame colour is from the standard range or needs custom powder coating. Securelux provides a free onsite consultation to confirm all four factors and give an accurate quote.

Four things drive the price: the Crimsafe product selected (First, Regular or Ultimate), the size of the door or window, the installation requirements for that opening, and the frame colour. Securelux also offers 3M security film separately, priced from around $100 to $1,000 per panel depending on size and installation.

Yes. Securelux offers weekly payment plans to spread the cost, and final payment is only due once the security screens are installed and the customer is happy with the result. Every quote is also covered by a 30-day price lock guarantee, so the quoted price is held for 30 days.

Comparisons

All of these are stainless mesh security screen products, but they secure the mesh to the frame differently. Crimsafe uses a patented Screw-Clamp system that mechanically fastens the mesh with tamper-resistant screws, where Prowler Proof and ArmourX use chemical bonding or pressure retention, and Invisi Gard uses a wedge system. Independent testing at the University of Queensland found Crimsafe withstands 550kJ of impact (Regular) up to 750kJ (Ultimate), which is 5.5 times the current Australian Standard for security screens. That said, Securelux is clear that installation quality is just as decisive as the mesh system, whichever brand is chosen.

The stainless steel mesh is the biggest single cost driver in any quality security screen, and most genuine security products sit in a similar price range once mesh, accessories and testing are accounted for. Where budget doors usually cut costs is on accessories and installation. Securelux uses heavy-duty accessories on every job and colour-matches them for a professional finish, so if a quote looks unusually cheap it’s worth asking what’s been left out.

Even the strongest mesh can underperform if it isn’t installed correctly, since a poor installation is the easiest way for a screen’s effectiveness to be undermined. Securelux installers are company employees, not external subcontractors, and the business is QBCC licensed (licence number 1187294) and a Crimsafe Authorised Licensee, so the same trained team handles the quote, manufacture and installation from start to finish.

Service and warranty

Yes. Securelux’s service area runs from Caboolture and Burpengary in the north, through Brisbane, Redland Bay and Ipswich, down to Burleigh on the Gold Coast, plus the wider Moreton Bay region. Securelux has three Queensland locations, at North Lakes, Redland Bay and Brendale.

Yes. Crimsafe products carry a 10-year manufacturer warranty, plus 2 further conditional years, and Securelux backs its own installation with a 12-month workmanship warranty. Door closers are covered for the first 60 days only. Securelux offers warranties on all products and accessories, giving customers confidence in what’s been installed.

Securelux’s SecureCare after-service support is there for warranty help, maintenance questions and general troubleshooting once a job is complete. If an attempted break-in or vandalism has occurred, Securelux will come out for a flat $99 callout fee. Customers are encouraged to contact Securelux directly for anything covered by warranty rather than arranging their own repairs, since the products use specialised fittings.

Objections

The stainless steel mesh drives most of the cost of any Crimsafe product, and most competing security screen products sit in a similar price range. The real differentiator tends to be installation quality and the accessories used, both of which Securelux controls directly with its own employed installers and heavy-duty, colour-matched accessories.

Yes. Crimsafe supports fall prevention on windows and can include pet door options built into the security screen, and the installed product has no sharp edges. This is part of why Securelux frames its work around the idea of Feel Safe, Live Free, security that adds to quality of life rather than feeling like bars on the windows.

In most cases, yes. Crimsafe covers hinged, sliding, stacker, French and bifold doors, plus most window types including sliding glass, louvre, double hung, awning and casement, through the standard range and the Safe-S-Cape range. Bifold doors and unusual openings depend on the configuration and the space available for the door to swing, so these are best confirmed at a free consultation.

Crimsafe vs ArmourX

Both Crimsafe and ArmourX offer a stainless mesh security product designed to protect your home from intruders. However, the way they secure the mesh to the frame differs significantly.

Crimsafe has been independently tested at the University of Queensland and outperformed other products in impact testing. Crimsafe screens can withstand 550kJ of impact energy, which is 5.5 times the current Australian Standard for security screens.

ArmourX meets the minimum standard for impact testing as per AS5039/5040, though specific independent comparative testing results may vary.

One of the most important—but often overlooked—elements of any security screen system is the installation. No matter how strong the product is, poor installation can severely reduce its effectiveness. That’s why Securelux places a strong emphasis on professional, licensed installation carried out by trained experts to ensure maximum protection.

Crimsafe uses its patented Screw-Clamp™ technology, which mechanically fastens the mesh into the frame using tamper-resistant screws and a vice-like clamping system. This method provides superior resistance against forceful impacts.

ArmourX, on the other hand, uses a pressure retention system where the mesh is held in place by friction and pressure applied within the frame.
